I think it works, cause "Scorpion" is very much like, at least the old sensationalized idea of ninjas, some badass codename, but he's not a scorpion man at all, just a deadly code name. I still like the designs that further incorporate the scorpion theme like MK9 alt especially, but ultimately his gimmick is more a reborn ninja from hell, rather than being actual any kind of scorpion dude
