Play something other than a meta focused PvP deathmatch where the only real factors are guns and armor. Lights make excellent spotters and screening units in BTA. They're also good at getting optimal accuracy bonuses with C3 networks.
Plus it's fun to load up a Commando with clan SRMs, have it run behind a heavy, and shred through the armor, and crit its ammo.
