Harem stories are rarely built where the MC is aware of the girls' affection or where he has time to consider the idea of polygamy. Usually, confessions are rushed into the final part of the story, forcing the MC to choose one out of pressure, or the story simply has a time skip and we are never told why the winner was chosen.

Also, many of these stories are just pseudo-harems where the chosen girl is exaggeratedly obvious from the beginning of the story and the rest are just there to fill tokens and sell merchandise, but they never really had a chance.
