Because the deaths feel just thrown out willy-nilly without any involvement on the player's part. Shit just kinda happens while we definitely exist, then we move on, because it is all just filler within filler, before we get back on track of the writer's deviantart oc wanking. Reminder that when we arrived in this shithole the game stops you from further interacting with the characters when you meet them the first time, all to then transition to a fucking yapfest with random npcs. Not giving a shit about the playable characters seems almost intended, when the game constantly makes the player the odd one out who awkwardly hangs with the friend group where everyone knows each other for ages (that is if we don't get put into time out to entirely switch the fucking point of view because the writers are too shit and lazy to even come up with a reason for us to be around when things happen).
