It is probably just a thing here but the idea that the Susie and Noelle romance is shitty and boring on purpose to foreshadow some catastrophic collapse down the line. In reality he just writes gays for Twitter and is too afraid of potential backlash to show them as being in anything but the most sickly sweet and conflict free relationships imaginable.
