I really don't think it's a coincidence after the trifecta of Leif, Roy and Eliwood that you start seeing the franchise step on the scale for MC's growth rates. Ephraim is basically just Eliwood but buffed across the board from the getgo, better starting stats, higher growths, earlier promotion. This trend basically peaks with Chrom and his high growths in HP, strength, skill, speed and luck on top of a buffed Aether he gets shortly after promotion and that he can promote basically as soon as he gets a Master Seal, but the ones that follow are only just barely scaled back or are the batshit insane 3H numbers.
