The whole brand is tarnished beyond recovery by the Disney. That's it. If it was during the 2010s, I think people would be more open to it.
And Destiny 2 also suffers from bad reputation atm, so it's viewed as a cynical cash grab. Nobody gives them benefit of doubt.

It's all bad optics due to circumstances.
