It’s not that complicated. As you pointed out, there are essentially two requirements for FIRE
>have a high-paying job
>be willing to live well below your means
Being able to stop working and be comfortable for half my life on this earth is worth that to me. You’re correct that I could get cancer randomly but if that’s really a detracting factor for delayed gratification, why make plans at all?
