Idk, the chaos marines seem pretty varied and interesting to me. I also like that there are potentially thousands of different warbands with completely different color schemes.

You mean like in ground battles? Fleet battles easily involve tens of millions and anything involving a hive world could easily involve 500 billion people or more. Just like in real life, you can't increase the scope to capture all that without it becoming incomprehensible.
