All so the joke at the end can box Vanilla into the generic trope of being a scary mom that even Amy and Rouge start sweating at what Cream's going off about. None of that should even be taking place, real Vanilla would be happy to hear about how much fun Cream had and be glad everything went well in the end.
Don't even get me started on how Cream and Vanilla being characterized like this also forces Amy into the mature mom act. Even though this is Evan writing her, around Cream she has to act mature when in the past like Sonic Heroes, Amy was not concerned about setting a good example for Cream. It was actually easier to buy the idea that Amy and Cream had a sister like relationship because Amy kept her around like an equal, another girl to get into mischief with, but after the 2010s, now Cream is just a useless child for her to babysit. Cream is suffering mischaracterization and sanitization just as much as Amy and Rouge. Why does Sega hate their girl characters?
