I'm not sure if Mario Kart World counts for this thread, but it always makes sure that you can see things from any angle without second-guessing yourself. Here's a screenshot in the ice/snow area and you can clearly see all the different paths splintering off, even as they disappear into the horizon. Hell if you look at the right side you can still see the roads beyond the ice/snow area and several of the other race tracks. The only time the game needs to use the bright yellow paint is when it's marking the out of bounds during races.
