Sam was affected and that's part of what makes him one of, if not, the best characters. He actually grows quite a bit and by the end of the 3rd movie he's more of a hero than some of the "major" characters/fighters. The main warriors know shits gonna hit the fan. Sam has some freaky, malnourished hobbit fucking hit shit up out of nowhere half the time and then has to fuck with a giant spider to save Frodo. A spider that most likely would've fucked up Aargon, Legolas, and Gimili, even if that fought together. Stfu if you think Rudy didn't carry the whole fucking franchise desu.
