I liked it about as much as I did Stormblood overall and I thought it ended on a stronger note than Stormblood did. It was competent enough and Calyx was handled well, so was Necron. The Cat was drastically oversold on how annoying she was going to be by /v/ threads, and I ended up liking her marginally more than Lyse, to keep the Stormblood comparison going. Actually, what struck me this expansion was that only 7.1 was really a filler patch, as far as the main story goes. It isn't like Shadowbringers where literally nothing happened as the Scions said their goodbyes to their host regions, because they had to waste time until 5.3 and Elidibus.
I thought the FF9 adaptation was handled well and that a super-advanced and computerized civilization was an interesting and logical way to adapt from a game that itself had themes of technological advancement and industry being used for both good and bad. I hope they don't crutch on FF adaptations in the future for other shards, that theme will wear very thin very quickly after two expansions of it now with FF4 & Tactics Void and FF9 Ninth.
6.5 to 7.5/10 depending on area. 8/10 for gear design (love the Occult Crescent berserker and cannoneer sets!), 9/10 on artifact armors. Flexible 7.5/10 to 10/10 on music, Tuliyollal's big band and Kenny G were amazing choices, and I love the Arcadion having a unique track for every instance with a large genre range. 6.5/10 to 7/10 on fight designs (Valigarmanda EX stands out for the Mountain Fire mechanic alone; positively orgasmic to play it as a tank), until the raid refreshes kicked in with Arcadion's second floor, then 8.5/10 and I'm excited to see more.
