The Salt Lake City County Building. Allegedly built within 3 years between 1891 and 1894. It cost $900K to build which would be the equivalent of about $32 MILLION today lol. The population was supposedly less than 45K people in salt lake at the time. Pretty extravagant “city-county building” for such a relatively small number of residents. Not to mention that the city was already home to the Salt Lake City Council Hall and Salt Lake County Courthouse, both allegedly erected in the 1860s, which were already extravagant and monumental buildings in their own right. the claim that the people of Salt lake were prioritizing projects of multiple multi million dollar grandiose architectural feats to such a high degree at this time stretches reasonable belief.
