Now you listen to ME while I run my mouth.
Sonic's lifestyle is impossible for all but a select few people in this world. Sonic is like Andrew Tate telling people to "just get rich" and "just bang 100 chicks". That shit is only gonna be achieved by a very very small percentage. Most people have to COMMIT, COMPROMISE, BE RESPONSIBLE, etc...
You, Sparky, when you are working on your project, you are not being Sonic, you are being like Knuckles. Focused, determined, dead-set on a single goal that you've spent YEARS achieving the skills to complete, and even more YEARS in the process of creating this fabled project. You are COMMITTED. You fight your urge to shitpost. You are not in a "Carpe Diem" state, you are in a "Carpe Noctem" state.
"Oooh but he did work hard, he's at the end of his character arc". Ok? Then show his character arc. Saying "They trained off-screen" is a common trope people use to pretend that a character isn't a Mary Sue. They do not show him EARNING his power. They do not show him EARNING his character. Yet, he tells you to EARN those things. Don't you see how pretentious that is? How utterly arrogant and ignorant the idea is? Him telling you to EARN things he himself did not EARN, while the story never shows anyone EARNING them, implying that it's impossible, and yet, he tells you to EARN them? That's not inspirational, that's depressing, that's beating me with a hammer over and over.
But you see, the only reason it feels that way is because I'm looking at it wrong. You, the player, are not Tails. You're not meant to be inspired by Sonic, or Superman, or any other Gary Stu. You're supposed to BE them. To self-insert in this escapist fantasy as a distraction. It's no wonder Sonic is the protagonist you play as, or that Superman stories are seen from his perspective. You're supposed to go "You tell them, Sonic, you show them the earth spins!" as if Sonic is a projection of your own will, a reflection of yourself in the present.
