Lots of media for children depicts the suffering of pathetic people as noble, the messaging says to us, "These people are brought low by circumstance and sometimes by others, but they are ultimately good and righteous." This is a good thing to teach children because it helps them process adversity and approach it in a healthy way. However, in reality, most people who suffer horrible fates are not especially good and they certainly do not often come out of the experience with a well-adjusted mindset. It's just how things are.
