I know how stories are supposed to work and if your excuse was "it was supposed to be predictable" then it was still in poor taste and was unnecessary to the plot/there were more tasteful ways of having that suicide happen.

Not everything needs to be a subversion but there are some things that are just so pathetically trite or low brow and easy to see coming that it is low hanging fruit as an author to do them.
Same reason certain tropes are looked down upon heavily like "it was all a dream". Even if there are "hints" that it is going to happen it isn't good to just play that trope as some ground breaking revelation completely straight, and there are more interesting ways of conveying something like that then performing it in the most predictable way possible.
That's just how I feel about this show. Interesting premise if the author had any subtlety or restraint, but just wasted on him wanting to have certain """moments""" and the torture porn.
