it's the same shit that happened with triple A games. you just get risk adverse slop that makes investors happy.
the saddest part is that it works, franchise movies outperform original movies pretty much all of the time. even when they're shit. like jurassic park fans knowing that every movie is going to suck, but they're gonna watch it anyways.
