Maybe I'm retarded and but why exactly does Rodion desire for greatness? The book did explain why the original had his complex but /our/ Rodya deviates from him in that regard assuming everything in her dungeon was 100% true and she isn't being an unreliable narrator that's telling white lies and/or omitting crucial details.
