Can we stop with this meme already? Japan allows this shit nearly every single time. Nintendo definitely isn't glazing over such things. If they didn't like what the filthy gaijin wrote in their localization, then they'd say so. Do you have any idea how many emails full of notes get exchanged during localization? Literally ask anyone who works in that field. They'd talk your ear off.

If they didn't care, then why are they the arbiters of quality writing to begin with? That makes zero sense. They would obviously care how their work is portrayed overseas. Get real, man.
Yes, the original Japanese script for a game can sometimes give you a deeper insight as to what the developers intended, pre-localization, and sometimes things get cut or changed, which is gay, but again, and this is critical, so pay attention: Japan allows it to happen, stupid. Find me ONE (1) instance where Nintendo of America made a change to a game that Japan didn't approve of. You never see articles where developers were like:

Because it almost NEVER happens. ESPECIALLY to a fucking first party Nintendo game of all things. You think the nips were just all hands-off about how NoA wrote the script to Bananza? What is clearly intended to be a major system seller game for their new console? Do you seriously believe that? Be fucking honest, man.

Do these people understand that none of the greatest speed run games of all time were designed to be speed ran? They became speed runs because the games were just good and high quality.
It is the same reason no platform fighter will ever compete with Smash. They're all melee autists who think wavedashing and l-canceling is good game design. Melee got popular because it was a great fucking game that people found tech for over the years, they weren't told the tech and then forced to try to enjoy the game after.
