As all the Corintari troops were occupied in the south, the Orcs of the north saw themselves an easy opportunity for expansion. Facing no resistance, the orcs marched their superior armies straight to Smallmere. Unable to handle the pressure of the situation, Aldresia died not long after from a heart attack at the age of 68, and soon her appointed successor, an obscure priest she had known named Brandon Derwing, was declared the new Grandmaster.
Derwing soon made peace with what little remained of the opposing Order and brought them to the fold. From the reports, he knew that his weakened army could not come close to defeating the Orcish warbands; instead, he hoped that the recently built fort would prove its worth and defend the capital from the invaders while he led the troops to the lands of the orcs. The plan was to fully occupy the Orcish lands before they take the Corintari capital, to then force them into making peace.
The plan soon proved to be a success, and the orcs were forced to pay war reparations and break any ties they had with the other orcish clans, something that would become useful later on. No land was lost on either side.
Finally, in 1493, Derwing would bring the last of the rightful Corintari land, the province of Wystanway, back to its rightful owners. It used to be occupied by the Order of Ashen Roses, but had declared independence during the Orcish onslaught; their small "army" of 4000 men stood no chance, and in less than a year, the last of the Corintari cores was reunified.
