When the FUCK are they going to update Escann edition
Previous:
>>2052553
Imperium Universalis is better
>>2075875 (OP)I think it was like June 6 or something.
who's this supposed to be? corin?
Escann update?
What will it be about?
Speaking of updates, I'd like to ask, for fun. Imagine that (you) were given the chance to have total control over the update of 'something' in the game. Whether it's a specific tag, a region, or just an event chain or crisis, you can choose to have it be whatever way you like. Basically, you can write it.
Disregarding your actual writing skills, what would (you) choose, anons? What do you think would be better off?
>>2076007Some new missions and tags like usual.
>>2076019The 2 I always wanted were hill gnolls and darkscale kobolds. Hill gnolls have one coming in the new update, so that just leaves darkscales. I want theirs to be worshipping something deep that they think is a dragon, but probably isn't. That whole theme has sort of been fulfilled now with Masked Butcher though, so I don't really care about Darkscale any more.
>>2076032I read up about Darkscale, and apparently they get canonically destroyed, don't they?
Why do Kobolds always get the short end of the stick when it comes to these 'canonical' results? Gnomes take over the Dragon Coast, Darkscales get drowned in greenskins....
>>2076035>and apparently they get canonically destroyedWho the fuck cares. "Canonically" in this mod just means "Vic 3" start, and no one plays Vic 3, so I'll never need to know or care about it.
>>2076039Fair enough, but still kinda gay how much they hate Kobolds.
>>2076019Massive goblin buffs, new goblin tags on every continent, and goblins blobbing all over the place and outbreeding every race out of existence
>>2075875 (OP)Gods, I HATE GINGERS
>>2076035>serpentspine kobolds get exterminated>aelnar gets to exist as an OPM minor for chud revenge fantasiesnot fair
>>2076061She should be an Esmari instead of a Castellyrian as in canon imo. It's a missed opportunity to not make her as an integral part of Bennon MT.
>>2076019Halfling update. I want Lorent to suffer in the north, fuck 'em. That or expanding the infernalist to be a bit more hated since they are only considered "heretics" ingame even though they should be considered the BIGGEST EVIL by the regent court.
>>2076019Busilar and Eborthil are very lackluster right now despite them being the supposed equivalent of Spain and Portugal. From the few thing I read about Busilar it looks like it's filled with really queer shit and focus too much on their Sarhal refugee that was brought by their niggerloving Elfwomen instead of their much more interesting Phoenix Empire connection and Kheteratan origin.
>>2076293What the heck is it with this mod and going through this weird ass route? Is it due to the DnD connection?
>>2076019How about making the Black Demesne less retarded? The absolute bordergore it becomes is utterly and completely unplayable.
There's also the really weird fact that all the tags that can form the Desmene have some sort of immortal ruler, and yet the Demesne explicitly has a custom inheritance system. Why? Why would you design a nation around being a Lich then make a system that doesn't work with Liches?
>>2076039the ck3 and vic3 ports are so retarded
>nobody plays vic3>there isn't a lot of playerbase overlap between the games>no focus trees so storytelling has to be done through events and decisions>they have to make 3d models for all the fantasy races. the framework is there with the ck3 fantasy mods already out but they have to make that shit from scratch for vic3for vic3:
>cannor somehow colonizes sarhal and haless even though there isn't a significant tech/magic gap between the two like irl>lorent and gawed have the exact same borders as eu4
>>2076293and unfortunately they'll never be overhauled because cannor is a finished continent and only the non-humans non-elves get any updates there
>>2076299>Is it due to the DnD connection?it's that and also that 90% of the devs are trans
>>2075982the bright red hair wasn't obvious?
>>2076007they added a new elf adventurer who can form two nations, one of which is half elf and has a mission tree on the gitlab
>Escanni Orcs go from "GREENTIDE GREENTIDE GREENTIDE"
>Almost go Corinite even before most human nations
I do not get it. I get the logic "Oh she beat Dookan, therefore we follow her", but the fight ended in a draw, and Great Dookan still led the orcs through, why the heck would ALL of them go Corinites? Even the VERY zealous ones. The orcs in this damn mod are too fucking weak for what they are. Atleast the SOME of the ones in the mountain have SOME balls
>>2076363>Convert to Corinism>Everyone instantly forgets the rape murder genocide you committed and starts kneeling at your feet for being a wholesome brave and valid monster of colorWhy wouldn't they?
>>2076374Mechanically yeah, lorewise sure maybe if the humans and elves are that retarded to trust an orc, but why would the ORC forgo what is basically his god's chosen and his god, the guy who's said to have: A) Sacrificed himself to make them. B) Got betrayed by the other gods that they are now FUCKING KOWTOWING TO
I'm half tempted to learn how to mod so I can mod a "Greentide" mt
>>2076383Afaik Bloodgorger (the orc tag near Castonath) is supposedly led by son of Korgus Dookanson and in Vic3 canon he manage to almost restart Greentide but it got nipped in the bud by Corin's Circle (Lothane (Grandmaster of Corintar), Arosha (Chieftess of Clouded Eye), Laurens (Knight-Commander of Sword Convenant)). I believe Escann looks strange because the Orcs tags in there is still very underdeveloped despite already having tons of lore written for each clan.
>>2076413Weird considering their location and the fact that they are smacked with the "Recommended" tags. I suppose it is a case of the devs forgetting/not caring enough to update them.
>>2076293If you go into the discord they're doing a mission rework for eborthil and verne
>>2076061My grandfather hated them too, even before they stole his bike and his shoes.
Actually, remind me, why isn't Castonath a tag of its own? I mean, didn't it survive the Greentide? The Patricians are there, and they have enough power that you still need to negotiate with them for proper control of the city.
>>2076436Imagine being an adventurer company moving into the ruins of an abandoned city only to be confronted by about 20,000 shit stained aristocrats who proudly announce they've been living in the sewers for two decades and if you ever fuck with them they'll burn the city down again.
I want total ORC victory, which nation gives that?
>>2076481Weird that there's two sides to this... But Total ELF death is calling me...
>>2076484This is a weird ass descision. Total Orc Victory can wait, the elven question awaits.
>>2076484masked butcher has an insanely good mission tree (and unique government form) you should stay as them instead
>>2076480>>2076481roadwarrior is a very unique one but it doesn't have a lot of content like masked butcher does, but you are a migrating OPM that decolonizes provinces while upgrading your mad max road wagon
>>2076488you play as a horror monster nation that skins faces of other races and puts them on farms for harvesting. everyone will have -200 opinion of you so there's no point in demonsterizing. the localization on events is insanely good and it's done by the same guy who's doing the new Zokka tree
>>2076494I thought that the loc was written from the perspective of skinwalker orcs but once I realized they were just normal people the mystery kinda faded away
>there's a country in horashesh that can summon a Xhaz despite being humans in the update
Thoughts?
Feiten anon here from the last bred. I realized I ignored one critical piece of text in the monument description that completely changes the game:
IF: IS FEITEN
IGNORE CORING DISTANCE
You can have a max of 37 - though I am pretty sure that will increase as time goes on - provinces stated with this, so, I am now going to pick the 37 best provinces in the world and transfer the remainder to my ever-loyal vassals.
Playing with an expanded Monuments mod + the expanded ideas, with an extremely vassal & TC heavy gameplay. Verkal Ozovar is de-facto mandatory for the liberty desire reductions.
Any thoughts on provinces with particularly good wonders here? Currently stuck expanding naval forcelimit so I can field a 60-strong transport fleet and start shipping troops over to invade Eborthil for a staging ground in Cannor.
>>2076019Aelnar rework. Someone was making Aeliande MT (the sane version of Aelnar) but was dropped because they were forced to work on vic3.
>>2076363There is Khozrugan who is supposed to stay great dookan and continue the greentide, but the MT is really old.
>>2076436Anon, patricians have literally been surviving on orc meat they found in the city. There is no way they have the organization to form a proper government.
>>2076363It's mostly game mechanics due to centers of reformation. That said, there's some fluff regarding Arosha Oakbreaker, a member of Corin's Circle, giving sermons to the Clouded Eye tribe after Corin's death. I'm not sure if any of this is written down and it's pieced together from wiki articled, but Krogus's invasion of Cannor resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of orcs and failed in its stated goals: Finding Dookan and destroying the Regent Court. I can see how, two-to-three generations after the Greentide when the Corinite Proclamation comes into play, Orcs could be convinced that the fight between Corin and Krogus was a Ozarm'Chadash - wiki calls that a Duel for Honor, basically "you weak i take over tribe now" - and could be swayed that Corin had some legitimacy as the leader of the orcs at this point.
One thing's for sure: Dookan's not helping them - they can't even change their skin color anymore and half of them are being taken in slave raids. I'd be compelled to convert to save my own skin, personally.
....Now I want to play an orc nation. Any good orc MTs out there? Never even looked at them.
>>2076729>Aeliande MT (the sane version of Aelnar)Disgusting. Only Calasandur and Sicrheior are fit to rule.
>>2076779Masked butcher has a fantastic mission tree and writing.
>Still no Damearian Republic
>>2076779>Any good orc MTs out there?Shattered Crown is the only one I enjoyed
>>2076779I've heard Sapchopper-Karakhanbar is meant to be good but I think one anon in a previous thread mentioned the latter tree being broken somehow.
>>2077077I saw some whining on reddit about this one having very little national impact and due for a rework
>>2077037I've heard them recommended, will have to give them a try sometime! I'm not sure where to even go with them aside from just blobbing into Bulwar.
>>2077070I should try Shattered Crown. What's their theme? Anything really stand-out?

>>2076383>>2076363It's my first game with dwarves. Got about 100 years to go. Need to get what I need off The Command and then I'm going to empty the mountains on all these massive orc tags that everyone loves now, AE be damned.
>>2076620I remember in Deepwoods there's a gold mine monument with +3 Goods Produced and a can't deplete at all.

>>2078111I liked Bianfang into Dahui. Basically the entire nation in focused on war
I havent played this in a while and i just checked it out again and holy shit the map is so fucking bloated now what the fuck were they thinking
>>2078240agreed theres so much bloat
Sarhal (fantasy notAfrica) is 2x larger than it should be and theyre adding an additional continent Insaya in a future update that shouldnt even exist.
Im glad they add an option at game start to disable regions because theres too much
>The only half elf realm of the mod
>MT is boring multicultural utopia
>Ibevar is annexed by replacing the population
Wasted potential.
>>2078574me when every single mission tree is about making a super happy socialist democracy where everyone loves eachother (racism is SO silly guys)
>>2078622Ironically the popular MT is the one where it's the exact opposite of that. Aelnar is popular for a reason.
>>2078622Which trees are actually like that? I can't remember one that I've played.
>>20786484Nearly every mission tree either requires or softly encourages you towards an accepting path. Rogeria, Kobildizan, every single Sun Elf except one is DYING to prove how they're not like THAT anymore...
>>2078648Everything that's not genocide is socialism.
>>2078656There are like, 5 monoculture tags in the damned game, and they're all explicitly mega-evil.
>>2078648Farrancan on the git
No mission or event about being an half-elf kingdom
>>2078648Stalbor is the worst imo. They literally have no identity expect for being that.
>>2077476Corin is Agrados. She died, and then her corpse puppeted by him. Agrados then proceeded to use this to try his little 'coup' attempt against the Regent Count.
Of course, none of this matters because Castellos being dead is irrelevant, he wouldn't have been able to do so many miracles and appear as a dragon otherwise.
Castellos is dead, but he is not gone. Praise Castellos. Praise Khet. Dalcabab is the path.
Dookanson was an avatar of Castellos that was created because he knew Agrados would return. He also Balgar's folk by leading the orcs out of the serpentspine to battle against Corin(Agrados). Through him he defeated the usurper again and even managed to redeem the orcs with a semblance of consciousness(though still not to the extent of a human). However due to Agrado's next chimp out in the Crimson Deluge humanity was doomed to centuries of religious conflict and usurpation by the (((cube))).
>>2076363>convert to corinite>continue RAPE MURDER KILL RAPE MURD-it's that simple
>play orcish kino
>orcs win
feels great man
>>2076779Clouded Eye and Unguldavor both have mission trees in the gitlab and they're unironically some of the best in the mod right now
they go very deep in lore and you'll feel like you're reading 4 paragraphs a month at times, and they're very well written
>>2078640Nobody cares about Aelnar anymore though.
>inb4 wrongPost the date of your most recent Aelnar save file or screenshot, if you still have one at all.
>>2078845Yeah, Masked Butcher and Wyverheart to lesser extent already usurp Aelnar recently in term of popularity and they are even more fucked up than Aelnar.
>>2078719Orcs were the chosen people all along...
I thought Neratica had a MT. I was wrong. Atleast the concept of going against my infernalist Corvuria sounds like a good set up for exiles taking back their home from devil worshippers.
>ibevar has one of the smallest mt in cannor
>it's fine
>devs still gonna reworks tags huge mt like wex or lorent
For fucks sake....
these motherfuckers don't stop getting rid of orcs even when they're ruled by orcs, what is this
>try xia again
>take the epic ez win advice to dodge the revolt war and consolidate
>command stomps everyone in each direction in turn then comes at me with 3x my FL
Thats it, I'm getting that mod
>>2079793Even if somehow all of Haless join to fight them the AI is still too retarded to beeline straight into Command's capitals. The AI usually follow you if you allow attach though which is why I don't avoid it when playing Xia or even I send a free Condotierri to Sir if I can't join them.
>>2079563hey the new half elf tag gets to take over ibevar!

>>2079840you posted this in the wrong thread first
I hope you feel silly!
when are they gonna make an orc slaver MT?
orcs literally have a slavery mechanic in their religion.
The radiant sun school for high philosophy is so disappointing, they're meant to be halessi elf worshippers and there's not a single high philosophy elf tag in haless(or a human tag that just worships elves)
also azkare fucking sucks
I wish there was an evil human tag that revolved around purging everyone

How hard is it to mod in an MT? I mean it's just a series of checks, so it shouldn't be that hard, right?
>Purging Orcs. Even focused to make Orc murder more efficient
>Event= Due to various circumstances and events the situation of Orcs in your nation has improved
Did they just get tired of killing?
>>2080273Perhaps your people got tired of winning and even started to feel bad for the orcs. Or some of the orcs are trying to be nice and submit. It's vague to let you make up what happened in your mind.
>>2080273After generations of total orc death there was nobody left alive when the order for TOD was created. So they felt bad since they've only ever seen orcs thrown into mass graves.
You know what bothers me? the lack of large archipelagos in this mod.
>>2079938have you read the culture conversion events for Wyvernheart? you are explicitly commiting genocide
>>2080425I agree. I wish the giant continent that's perma-unfinished was deleted and replaced with a huge archipelago. I miss my indonesia gameplay.

>>2080786for land you own directly, you only need Inner Castanor.
I think the Barumand subject/ally only needs to control about 4 or 5 areas, the Khozrugan march needs every border of Escann bar the southern tip and the mining company only needs the caves. I would've kept my little vassal swarm of adventurers in central Escann but they get automatically integrated into Khozrugan unfortunately.
There might be more land requirements in the 2nd half of the tree which I'm ready to unlock, but there's some culture conversions that I want to finish first.

Vaengheim (the viking harpy) is pretty fun their mission tree is about taking over Gerudia and slaying monsters and colonizing Aelantir, they're not a monstrous nation either and get to vassalize their historical friend next to them for free
Grombar man, I was initially pissed off that after your initial spree of conquests forming Grombar gives you an unavoidablle -25% admin efficiency for fifty years before realizing how actually ridiculously strong Old Dookan is for devving. With Dookan's blessing, mage towers, and temples I'm turning forests into cities out here. Never gone Corinite before but I'm tempted not to - are there any benefits for devclicks? Might honestly stay Old Dookan at this rate, the war bonuses are also phenominal when you stack it with war magic. >>2081341Corinite gets to choose between a dozen holy orders with both state-wide and nation-wide buffs but I'm pretty sure none of them are related to developing

The year was 1551, and Grey "Emperor" Temar II Frozenmaw finds himself struggling with a deep sense of inadequacy. His great-grandfather, Brasur The Grey had spent his lifetime fighting insolent Reachmen, Olavs, and even rebellious Grey Orcs to forge a kingdom who could resist the united force of the Reach, stomping out hopes of a reclaimation forever. His son Marosh Tribetamer and his wife, Muroga Farseer whipped those ornery sons of the Greytide from listless, wandering monsters into civilized, industrious folk, eventually constructing the great vessel Victory which bore those first colonists to Dalaire - all while having time to silence the skaldic songs chanting for our eternal friend Bogulr Hardrock's death. Both men had inexorably shaped the world around them, yet it was the shadow of Temar I that haunted his son.
Temar I Snowbloom seemed as if he was born under a star: Dookan had blessed him with the ability to pull crops from frozen fields and bring the wrath of a frost giant upon his foe's castles. The Gawedi cowered in fear at his mere gaze, the Lorentish ceded Noruin when he threatened to sail to Sella himself if they did not cease their impudent expansion. None dared challenge his claim over the Broken Isles and the Quartz Dwarves could do naught but tantrum from their isolation in Krakdhumvror. After fifty years atop the Ivory Throne, he plucked Bayvic from the hands of the Reach Confederation simply because he willed it.

>>2082303Yet his son Temar II's very rise to that same seat began rife with troubles. Insolent pests like Exwes and Neckliffe found routes into Dalaire, Deranne sensed weakness and seized claimed land in Amadia. In days past, these troubles would've been resolved with the shamans chanting thunder-drums and the horde descending on these upstart outsiders: Yet Dookan would not speak to Temar II. Even as Corin reigned down blood upon Cannor, Dookan's silence seemed the loudest in the halls of Garok, as the forests outside that gleaming city were rife with the Reachmen's cries for Crovis's stolen throne. The warbands to sail westward always had something more pressing to deal with: Skalds summoning Valkyries to pillage the hills around Redgarhavn, Gawedis mobilized upon the borders, the ever-postponed plans to wipe out the last free Reach republics once and for all.

>>2082306After two lost decades putting down what must've been hundreds of thousands of Corinites, Skalds, and ornery Dwarves, Tamar II stood heirless at 45 with scant accomplished in his life. In desperation to etch his name into the world, he swung his warclub in the direction of the free Reachmen, finally ending Everwharf and their small confederation - perhaps this was a misstep.
From the halls of Almdihr, King Gluk I Bordu of the Highhold Orcs of the Shattered Crown felt fit to demonstrate to their grey brothers why Dookan no longer spoke to them: They were weak. The Frozenmaw Line's magics came from what remnants of Brasur's blood that remained within them, not from Dookan's blessings. He would prove that to them: What they had lost when they went west. It was supposed to be a feast celebrating a grand campaign in the Reach, but when an axe was lain on the table, all around knew what it meant: Ozarm'chadash. Challenging Tamar II to a duel of honor, the young Gluk needed not a single spell to bring his axe against Tamar II's face, only stopped by the guards of Garok's garrison. The great chieftain proved his point as he left the city: Grombar's weakness had turned the oldest of allies into the strongest of foes.

>>2082312Hubris. Temar II Frozenmaw had spent his entire life fighting it: His father, naming his son magnanimously after himself. His once-ally, chieftain Gluk Bordu, who dared to claim that a ritual combat gave him the rights to snatch the Ivory Throne. Interlopers from Cannor, laying claim to colonies the Grombari had staked out an age ago. The Corinites, yet another upstart Dookanson who claimed that the god's silence was proof of their divinity - the freeshooters had seen to them. Yet none was greater than Queen Anna Gerwick of of Gawed, a thorn in Temar's side since he was twenty. Supporting the Derannic expedition into Amadia, rallying a coalition, forcing Temar II to keep men on the continent when they were sorely needed elsewhere.
Yet Anna was reluctant to do more than posture. When Trollking Bogulr Hardrock crossed the Frozen Pass to pluck Serpentgrad from the corpse of Celmaldor, she was quick to posture men on the border - yet when Gnomish spies revealed the plot and Temar II issued a declaration of intent to protect? 'Twas back to a hundred more years of drilling. Always preparing for a war that would surely come... Next year. Maybe the year after that.

>>2082679In defense of Anna, it was not mere hubris that kept the continent gridlocked. Four blocks had calcified affairs, kept from bloodshed by the Gnomish Heirarchy insisting that the four powers be balanced.
First among equals was Gawed. While they had not fought a war for nearly 50 years, their armies acted like the next war was surely tomorrow. Financial constraints kept their forces from reaching above eighty-thousand men at arms - reportedly, the complete lack of Copper in Gawedi markets led to an extreme expense upkeeping their cannonade corps - but with financing from their allies in the Free City of Damescrown, Grombari scouts reported an Alenic horde of a hundred-thousand possible.
Secondmost was Emperor Taliesin Silmuna, having wrenched the Moon Throne away from the Wexonards due to the recent heresy in Escann. Taliesin found himself lord of a divided empire, arguing over religious doctrines endlessly whilst blood rained down from the heavens. Though his alliance bloc was mere duchies, they swung heavily above their weight. Their combined navies were the pride of the continent. The Creek Gnomes of Portnamm's Gommocannons won them colonies as far as the other end of Sarhal, mounted upon their twenty-three heavy vessels. Exwes was among the highest thorns in Temar II's sides, sniping half of Dalaire out from under him during the Grombari Corinite Wars. Pearlsedge was the problem child of the bunch, perpetually aspiring to greatness but unable to marshal the men to man their vast fleet and late to the Aelantiric rush. Still, House Simuna's army was not a joke either - but with their undisputed naval dominance, there was naught that Temar II could do to challenge their overseas ambitions.

>>2082688Most vulnerable was the perpetually troubled Kingdom of Lorent, kept from falling apart by the sheer willpower of Percevan Siloriel after their defeat in the Noruin War by Temar I. Sensing weakness, the problem dukes banded together to free themselves from the mage-king's yoke: Yet perpetually cowed by the Lorentish alliance bloc, they each wished for the war to be won before it was declared, refusing show the initiative the Winesbayers had shown during the Lilac Wars due to a fear of suffering the same fate.
Lorent divided was the weakest of the four blocs, but the balance of power in Cannor refused to allow the tension to break. Confidently - some may say foolishly - Percevan took advantage of the gridlock, recovering quickly from the loss of Noruin to strike at the ruinborn kingdoms of the Effelai and the free orc colony of Ozgarom. If the Grey Orcs would take North Aelantir, Percevan insisted that the south be his, endlessly financed by the bottomless coffers of Beepeck.
His efforts were jointly supported and stymied by the upstart kingdom of Deranne, the principal beneficiary of continental gridlock. Their tendrils infested nearly all of Aelantir. Endrallidae, The Isles, Amadia - wherever there was fresh land to be claimed, a Deranic flag insisted it was there first and therefore was entitled to the whole of it. With the endless support of Gawed, who gleed in the fact that Deranne was a thorn in the side of both Lorent and Grombar, they had a free hand in the old world. A position both parties found intolerable but could do little about it.
>>2082681The continent has been in a perpetual gridlock since approximately 1475, it's a very interesting scenario.

๐
>>2082698Diplomatically isolated, yet finding its footing with assurances from the Hierarchy, was Grombar. Most of Temar II's reign had been, when compared to his father, stuck in gridlock. The Corinite Wars had forced colonial subsidies to fall by 50%, completely crashing Temar I's planned dominion of Northern Aelantir. The Ozarm'chadash War had ripped their oldest ally from their hands by its own ambitions, now Temar II had to constantly consider the possibility of war breaking out on his then-undefended eastern frontiers. While the legions of half-orcs terrified the armies of the continent, in reality, they could not be everywhere at once. Committing to a colonial expedition forced Temar's homefront to be undefended should the Gawedi or Highhold Orcs strike. Committing to the homefront caused yet more colonial stagnation. Rebellions from Corinite Vrorenmarchers forced the bulk of his forces to remain at home.
Two notable diplomatic developments started to change this posture in the late 1550s. An alliance of convenience was created with Obrtrol to prevent Gawedi incursions now that the foolish trollking had gone and given himself a border with them, breaking the long diplomatic isolation. What had started as an alliance to maintain the balance of power changed to a confident support from Gelbin Portorran of the Hierarchy as both realized they had ambitions that conveniently allied. Gelbin feuded with the Creek gnomes of Portnamm, but could not hope to fight their allies of Wesdam without Grombari support - and Anna Gerwick continually coveted the Dragon Coast, convinced the gnomes had stolen it from her father during the collapse of the Kobold tribes.
Thus, the gridlock would continue eternally. Four alliance blocs, each with internal problems that kept them from breaking it. That was, until blood rained from the sky. For some reason, this lit the powder that had been spilt all across Cannor.

>>2082714A heresy spread with the winds. At first, it was merely a way for the false Emperor, Rogeir 'The Owl' Silmuna to legitimize his claim to Cannor over his hated Wesdamerian branch currently upon the Moon Throne. But rapidly it spread to Wexkeep, furious at being outmaneuvered by House Simuna after their hard-won victory in the Lilac Wars. At first, the Magisterium signaled support, though everyone with a brain knew this was merely for the mad mages to cloak their service to the infernal court under the mantle of 'religious freedom.'
Soon, most of the Empire west of the Dameshead fell victim to this religious feud, influenced by their Escanni cousins who to a man had rallied around their dead queen Corin.
As always, the trouble began with the Mages.

>>2082718When Emperor Taliesin Silmuna attempted to revoke the electorate of the Magisterium, citing the confirmation of rumors that Grand Magister Adran Silistra had made a pact with the infernals for his magical prowess, the electors of Moonhaven and Istralore, both recently Corinite, jointly denounced the decree for fear of the precent revoking their own electorate. A vote of the princes could not be called, as nearly all of them east of the Dameshead would side with the Corintes. Thus, a vote of the electors was called. The Magisterium obviously voted against the notion, joined by Istralore and Moonhaven. Yet Beepeck, Damescrown, and Silverforge fell on the Emperor's side. All weighed on the elector of Pearlsedge, Duke Caylen VI Sil na Trisfer. Caylen was... Busy, to say the least. His colonial ventures had been perpetually stimied in the Dry Coast and now he was in a war he did not want and truly could not win with a band of sun elves the Emperor refused to lend assistance with, as it was an ocean away. Thus, Caylen claimed neutrality, which in hindsight was the worst possible option he could have picked.
The only possible solution at this point was force of arms - which was made even more complicated with the declaration of Temar II Frozenmaw on the side of the objecting electors.
To the Aedenics in the Empire, this confused many. Temar II had spent 30 years of his life butchering Corintes in his own land as they waged religious wars in the Reach. Perhaps the Grey Emperor had finally lost it, driven mad by his father's homunculus. To the Corintes this seemed like the old Emperor finally seeing the light and signaling an end to the bloodshed. Instead, this was a stroke of politics suggested by Adran Silistra of the Magisterium. Temar II may've been clever, but he'd always considered pantheon affairs a Cannorian problem - not a political one.

>>2082725small correction: almost all of the league is on the Corinite side, i typed that part when i was about to go to eep last night and didn't proofread...
Interlopers in Dalaire included Exwes, the Emperor's close ally, and Neckliffe, an ally of Lorent. With Lorent declaring for the Adenics early in the formation of the league, Temar II found himself with an opportunity to leverage the chaos on the continent for gains in the colonies. As a bonus, the corinite zealots that had occupied his armies for 30 years now sought fit to go die for some war halfway across the contient - all while defending his lands from any potential incursions by the other three blocs.
This put Queen Anna Gerwick of Gawed in an uncomfortable position. Temar II had weathered her attempt to raise a coalition and declared the trolls who'd recently vultured upon the corpse of the Reach Federation under Grombari protection, preventing her expansion into the Serpentshead. Her endless armies could certainly hold off the half-orc kingdom's advances - a century of drilling and the Alenic fighting spirit would see to that. But holding off half a continent's worth of troops while being menaced from the north? The prospect was almost as unflattering as joining Lorent's side. Yet if she did nothing, the orcs would be free to continue their Aelantiric adventures, something Anna had spent her entire reign containing as much as she could by forcing them to commit the grand bulk of Grombari armies to the mainland.

>>2082681Funny you should mention that - one year after that post, it finally happened.
>>2082727Finally, in Truefrost 1559, something broke, sending half the world into chaos. The ensuing war would resolve the calcified coalitions that had formed from the start of the century - that was the hope.
Duchess Margery sil Saloren's burgeoning Loopuis Company had been at the forefront of Anbennarian fashion since the Esmari craze had died down in the 1530s. Emperor Aahmes III Panoutid, Steward of the Sorrow and undisputed lord of Sarhal, requested a new robe be fashioned for him laced with Damestear to be commissioned from Margery's finest seamstresses. The price for such a garment was a princely sum, no less than the entire coffers of the Calasanni Trading Co. at the time. Upon the garment's completion, Emperor Aahemes insisted upon receiving it in person, the Korosheshi grain-fleets appropriated to escort this grand figure into the Winesbay.
The lavishness was unbecoming to the Winesbayers, but worse was the sighting of black damestear in the holds of an infiltrated grainship. Rapidly, a plot was uncovered: In exchange for the Lorentish colonies in Sarhal, the Emperor would support the cause of the long-chafing Winesbay lords against their Lorentish oppressors.
The war did not break out as it had planned. Annd Gerwick of Gawed found herself surprised that the rebellious dukes had actually done it. They were even more surprised when Petran IV sil Ola, Duke of Sorncost, refused to join after decades of stark resistance to King Percevan's encroachment. Emperor Taliesin Silmuna was preparing to finally settle the Magisterium Question, only for his armies to have to turn abruptly westward. A chance such as this could not be ignored.

>>2082816With Queen Anna's armies swiftly routing what paltry forces King Percevan had left on the continent, Temar's generals had to race through the Alenic plains to salvage what was left of Lorent's military. Two will lead this story here: Ogg Brokenhammer, a veteran of the Noruin War raced to cross the Widderoy and join the war in the Small Country. On the 9th of Suren 1561, he crossed the Alen following the fall of Greenley. By the 19th of that month, Staga Sharpears had breached Castle Gawenton and set her army to pieces, harrying the undefended Gawedi countryside. Queen Anna had fled to Deranne earlier in the year when General Godrac Wightsgate informed her, at length and several times, of the logistics of relieving Gawenton from a frost giant.
By the 7th of Teysuren 1561, The Approach had fallen. Only Viswall and Greymill stood - already, the bells were ringing out in North Viswall. But why was there such a rush southwards?

>>2082816By Halament 1561, Percevan Siloriel could scarcely call himself a king. Indeed, he'd given up all hope, exiling himself to a remote island in the middle of Uelos' Lament. Three months ago, he'd left Lorentaine with what remained of his retinue and made a rush for New Aeda, if only to keep his only child, Kylian Siloriel, from being caught hostage whilst at the mage academy. Lencenor itself was all-but-lost, only the garrison of Ruby Pass holding.
By this point in 1561 it would be questioned if there was a Lorent to save.
Godrac Wightsgate had set fire to the great Caskhall at Winebay. New Acre had been pillaged early in the war for the high crime of being in the wrong place geograpically. What remained of the half-elven fleet cowered in Mistspear, only spared from sacking due to the fact that there was too much loot to be had for the Wesdamerians and Gawedi hosts to pillage it all at once.

With a river, a fortress-city, and 24-thousand men at arms, the Duchess felt confident she could oppose the crossing and buy enough time for Godrac Wightsgate to reinforce and hold that river which bisected the Small Country. The first shots of the battle had gone well, repelling a fording attempt by Ogg Brokenhammer's warg-rider cavalry. What she hadn't factored was Chieftain Orokag Bonecarver of the Green Orcish tribes, who some days before had forded downriver through the Saltmarshes. As the horn blew, the Bonecarver army rushed into South Viswall, crashing violently into hastily-amassed formations of Derannic gunners.
From behind the lines approached Temar II, who walked with his guard towards the Widderoy. A deep chill cursed that river, which managed to flow even while frosty winter air surrounded it. In moments, the Widderoy froze solid as the Vroren, and across poured the warg-riders.
Aline escaped, but her army was not so lucky - twenty-four thousand perished in an afternoon of wanton slaughter that saw the residents of both Viswalls cower behind locked doors. Perhaps thankfully, the orcs couldn't fit through them.
Recoiling at the slaughter, Lord-Elector Alfons Flatbrow declared his intent to sue for peace - even if it was the upcoming siege of Beepeck the Grombari were intending to relieve.
Still, this was far too soon for celebration. The River Widderoy was a strewn mess of fortresses claiming Gawdi flags for the past two years, and Taliesin Silmuna took the opportunity to cross The Pearls with ambition to knock the recently-enthroned Alina sil Wex out of the war - and ideally out of continental politics as well - for good. The Imperial Fleet managed to hold Temar II's 20 carracks before they could oppose the crossing.

>>2082921The Massacre at Viswall marked a turning point in the war. Beepeck, terrified at what would become their city if host to rampaging armies, quickly signed a peace. With the Wesdamerian army successfully reaching Wexkeep, Alina sil Wex suddenly felt uncomfortable fighting this war - it was all well and good when it was a battle taking place in Lencenor, but the cannons outside her palace were a much more intimate problem. Wex sued for a quick peace when Emperor Taliesin uttered the words "Free Damesear" and swiftly contributed three years' treasury to the imperial war effort.
In the Marble City of Wesport, Anna Gerwick was struggling. In the wake of Ogg Brokenhammer's crossing of the Widderoy, and the departure of the Wesdamerian army to Wexkeep, there stood nothing but seven fortresses inbetween herself and the halforc hordes yearning for Alenic blood and treasure.
This, and Aline sil Deranne had fallen into a deep spell of hysteria following the Massacre at Viswall. Forced to stick close to Aline for financial support, Anna grew to loathe the woman. In a way, they needed eachother: Gawed had an army but had forfeited their kingdom with a one-sighted use of it, and Deranne still had a kingdom, yet lacked an army to defend it with. In this state, Anna called for terms.
Terms were... Hard to deliver. Percevan Siloriel was atop an isle in the middle of Uelos' Lament - not exactly in a state to negotiate. Temar would have her killed, certainly. Therefore, a dispatch was sent to Vicerene Arabel Eune of Endralliande, containing an offer designed to appease the weakened Lorentish Kingdom and snub Temar. The lands surrounding Greymill, and a paltry forest in the Reach for a ten years' truce.
It's said that Temar's furious howl could be heard through all of the Small Country.
I like to make modern looking flags. This took me only a few minutes, but I kind of like it.
>>2082974Looks halfling, bright colors and simple symbols
>>2082959By Tearfall 1562, only 3 significant factors remained in the war. Khetrata had been reluctant to contribute much more beyond funding, and Lorent's army was vanquished before Temar even entered the war. What remained then was Wesdameria, the shattered army of Deranne, and Grombar. Verne even used the opportunity to sieze colonial holdings of Deranne - much to the chagrin of Temar, who coveted those lands in Amadia which were stolen from him.
Not that King Percival would know any of this: He killed himself on that isle, leaving his 13 years' old son to pick up the pieces of his kingdom in his wake. Temar found the Wesdamerian capital abandoned and took it without a struggle.
Chaos had broken out on the continent in the meanwhile. The objecting Electors had used this opportunity to launch their War of the Corinite League - Chronicling this becomes challening at this point.
All that for a single province in the Reach. Story of Temar II's life, it seems.

I'll focus on another king later on if there's interest in more ARR spam - but holy shit, Old Dookan is a busted-ass OP religion and I love it. Shaking the Earth + Dookan's Blessing - War + War Magic II turned forts into ruins in often 13 days, while there wasn't a single engagement that didn't result in a stackwipe. Good lord.
>>2082985>Old Dookan is bustedIt is VERY busted, which is odd considering I barely see the AI stay with it, usually they go full Corin or that dumb 'Old Orc Tales' one.
>>2082994From what I can see, I think the AI spams "omens" at 50 religious power and never saves for the truly ridiculous -20% dev cost or the absolutely silly +30% shock damage.
>>2082998I thought those had a big chance to fail.
Always fun to look over and see how your ally is doing in this mod

>>2083022The 50 religious power Omen has a chance of going wrong, but enduring the Omen going wrong gives a ton of rewards eventually.

>>2083439I got lucky with that one. They allied Busilar so me and Eborthil just carved the 2 of them up between us. Granted would have been a lot easier if Eborthil hadn't been nerfed navally.
>>2083462It's hard to find a reliable naval ally in general now, the only tags that start with more than 2 heavy ships are Deranne and Celmador and they're set to die at any moment
Maybe that's on purpose so you're forced to build the heavy ships yourself
>>2082672No. I quit early because it wasn't interesting. Gemradcurt and Esthil I've played to death.
>>2076019I would completely rework how adventure tags form in Aelantir.
have them spawn from colonial nations rather than have a billion spawn in 1500. Absolutely dumb that all of the sudden thousands can easily just sail over and form self sustainable nations at the drop of a hat without the constant early support of a mother nation. Also majorly cucks the colonising tags.
Also updates for Beepeck, Small Country, Portnam, Nimscodd and Gnomish Hierarchy.
Time for the small kings to have their day.
>>2083682>Time for the small kings to have their day. You're right. It's the KOBOLDS time to have their day. The devs favour them far more than they do the lil scalie dudes. They even made it canon that kobolds get completely annexed by Gommo and are forced to live in the mountains like a bunch of cavemen while the hierarchy completely takes over their land.
I mean, fuck, they like them so much the entire Kobildzan storyline is about how their own god hates them and loves gnomes so much more.

Greetings to /vst/ from a tourist from another board.
Finished my very first Anbennar campaign. While I had loosely heard of the mod before, the recent April Fools collaboration finally got me to try it, and I'm very glad I did. I don't think I've ever had as much fun in EU4, nor can I remember the last time I reached the end date.
Played as Verne, given how it is the first nation the player sees recommended to them by the game. I've seen in this thread (and elsewhere) that they're getting an update, hoping that it'll be good.
>Brief AAR
Started out by trying to follow the focus tree. Built to or near the force limit, subdued the gnolls (annexed all of Xanzerbexis and partitioned Akasik with Eborthil), retook Walterton and Oldtower (didn't expand too much in Anbennar proper to avoid AE), then went out colonising. By the Age of Unraveling, I had established a strong foothold in north South Aetlantir and everything was going splendidly; all until the League war began.
I, having converted to Corinite and allied with the emperor, turned out to be in the losing side of the war, with Ancardia (which was to become the second strongest great power) joining on the side of the Regent Court despite being Corinite themselves. Instead of fighting an unwinnable war, the troops were relocated to Akasik and helplessly watched as the fatherland was ravaged by its occupiers. By the end of the war, the fleet was entirely destroyed (never managing to fully recover), the fiends of Pealsedge had declared themselves as emperors of Anbennar, and a few miscellaneous lands were lost as well.
The 1600s were, in comparison, a relatively uneventful time, as Verne focused on rebuilding itself after the war. The most notable events of the century were Verne embracing the Ravelian faith and regaining lands that it had lost to the Aldresians (after multiple wars). Verne also tried expanding its colonial reach to Noruin (that failed) and consolidating its grip over South Aelantir (more success).
>>2083826 (cont.)
The 1700s saw the rise of nationalism, which culminated in the great reconquest of Stoutharbour and Watchman's Point from Pearlsedge by the victorious Vernman-Arannese-Ancardian-Istralorian alliance. In fact, Verne went further, expanding its lands all the way to Pearlsedge (the city) and puppeting Tretun, one of the electors.
The 1700s also saw a dozen or more colonial wars started by Theinos, Rezankand, The Triarchy, or worst of all, Aelnar (at one point, all of New Opportunity, Drakesguard, Soruin, and most of Amadia were under their occupation). Regardless, Verne persevered. Most of the wars ended in white peaces; a few had the enemies conceding their ever so valuable trade hubs to Verne.
Finally, as the 1800s came, Verne and its allies engaged in their final major war (or more accurately, three simultaneous wars), the end result of which was the unification of all Vernmen people (and more) under one banner, the annexation of mainland Pearlsedge by Tretun, and more nations paying war reparations to Verne than one could imagine. Of course, such conquests are not without consequence, and soon Verne was engulfed in internal conflict, seperatist rebellions, and a coalition quickly forming... alas, all of that is past the end date, so oh well!
>Overall thoughtsQuite clearly, the Verne is an outdated country, but outdated does not mean bad or not fun. In fact, it serves quite nicely for someone just wanting to get into the game, as there are little-to-no unique mechanics to complicate things, nor are there any "nation ruining disasters" I kept hearing about. It seems this will change in the next update, but I do hope that Verne remains as a beginner-friendly nation. In retrospect, I regret not interacting with the magic or racial systems (including the ever-enticing "Purge" button) very much, but I'll definitely do more campaigns, and I'm sure I'll learn the mechanics along the way.
>>2083827(P.S.: sorry in advance for >reddit spacing, but I don't exactly think anyone would read what would otherwise be a 4000 character wall of text.)

>>2083843>KobildzanChecked the timeline. Bluescale conquered Redscale, but then got conquered by the Gnomes (Gawed also took some land, I assume they were allied), which then formed the Gnomish Hierarchy (Bluescale still held lands in the caverns). At one point, Greenscale broke off from the Hierarchy, and while it existed, Bluescale turned into Kobildzan (then Greenscale got reconquered). Gawed then proceeded to lose some land to both Kobildzan and Lorent (again, probably an alliance, but one that broke shortly after Kobildzan expanded into the Hierarchy).
>GawedThey formed the Northern League at one point and got involved into multiple wars with Ancardia (I remember fighting in a succession war against them and how they had practically 0 troops after it, but there were definitely others as well). They were also allied with Pearlsedge when I declared on them, probably didn't help them.
>CorvuriaThey were guaranteeing Aldresia, so I had to fight against them at least once, not really sure what they were up to besides that, though.
>Sareyand and the CommandCan't say that much about the command, but I can say that, for whatever reason, the Jadd Empire was veeeery behind in tech during mid-to-late game, like, 3-5 technologies behind. Also, is picrel cursed too?

New anon here, again. Started a new campaign as Corintar. Wrote up an AAR (quite detailed this time) up until 1494. Will provide my thoughts on the nation after it.
>AAR
It was the 10th of Nerament, 1444. The endless hordes of the Orcs, led by their deranged false prophet Korgus Dookanson, had just been stopped in their tracks by a coalition of adventurers. Thousands upon thousands had died in the fighting. Among the fallen was Corin - once one of the many leaders of one of the adventurer companies, now to be proclaimed as the ascended Goddess of War. With her gone, her second in command - a half-orc going by Lothane Bluetusk - had just become the leader of the adventurer party she once led, now known as the Corintar.
Though the orcs were no longer a unified force, their remnants were scattered all across Escann. The Battle of Castonath, as it is now known, was only the beginning.
Knowing this, the half-orc had made his first decision as the leader of the party - to find and recruit as many able bodies to the cause of stopping the expansion of the zealous monsters as possible. In order to further this goal, Bluetusk ordered the headquarters of the company to be moved to รr Urion, as to be closer to the enemy. Seeing the defensive pacts being formed around him, Lothane too invited the adventurers of the Stalwart Band to help each other in case of an orcish attack.
In 1445, having amassed his forces, Bluetusk declared war against Flung Head, one of the goblin bands to the west. Their unprepared army was crushed in a single battle, and all the towns and villages that had been terrorised by them were liberated. Even one of the orc tribes lost some land, as they made the mistake of allying with Flung Head.
With the success of the campaign, Bluetusk pushed further, relocating the headquarters of the adventurers to Escerton. From here, he led yet another victorious war against the orcs, liberating many of the local towns and even establishing a foothold in Castonath.
>>2087502However, as the wars raged on and on, certain things became apparent. In terms of external affairs, their once faithful allies against the Greentide were not as chivalrous as Lothane had initially thought. Many of the orders had relocated their bases in Corintari-liberated land. Attempts to further strengthen the pact of Corintar and the Stalwarts showed the faults of the alliance. Internally, though Bluetusk had brought as much unity to his company as he could, the cracks were beginning to show. Each battle saw the deaths of hundreds, sometimes even thousands of men - sure, there were always enough willing locals to replenish the ranks, but it was simply not the same. How many of his troops have even seen Corin, much more fight under her like he once did? He knew not even a single name among them.
And thus, Lothane Bluetusk decided to do what no one had expected - to retire.
In his place came Captain Anca sil Canneinn, chosen to lead the company for his renown as a brilliant strategist, one of the best in Escann. As such, it was expected that he would continue Bluetusk's policy of simply liberating villages and driving monsters away. Maybe he'd even remind the fellow adventurer warbands to not step on foreign land? Alas, Anca had a far bigger picture in mind. He realised that, in order to face future threats, something bigger must come of Corintar.
Thus, he started his reign by investing all resources into administration and solidifying the company's rule, to prevent further incursions of the other adventurers into their lands. At first, these reforms seemed to go nowhere. Their rivals were quicker to settle down, the orcs were still terrorising much of Escann, and the Corintaris sat doing seemingly nothing. This caused much strife among their ranks, yet the Captain pushed forward with his reforms, and by Tearfall of 1464, nearly every single city, town, village and home the Corintaris liberated had signed a 'treaty of protection' with the company.
>>2087505The new administration worked more or less as follows: to ensure stability, the company would have a permanent headquarters in Smallmere. Any settlement that had signed the protection treaty was obliged to provide tribute - men, goods, crowns, or whatever else they could - to supply the Corintari military force. In return, every settlement would be protected by a permanent adventurer garison of anywhere between 100 and 1000 men. These adventurers would act as the enforcers of the law and would have limited say in other governmental matters as well, though the final decisions could still only be taken by the Captain.
Unfortunately, this created more problems than solutions. For one, due to the other warbands that had settled earlier, a significant portion of integral Corintari land was not under their control. Other settlements were separated from the capital because of this. One such place, Mintirley, prompted the creation of the "frontier pioneers", tasked with establishing control over little-settled land, such as Foarhal, which separated Mintirley from Corintar proper. Alas, this proved to be a very expensive venture that many a marcher viewed to be unnecessary. This prompted the "Administrative Unit Reform of 1468", which assigned all settlements to a "province", and all "provinces" to a "state". It proved to be very effective, though the economy was still struggling to keep a net-positive income.
Another problem was the fracturing of adventurer unity - beforehand, the entire party moved as one, united under a common marcher ideology and shared interests. Now, they were spread out all across their liberated parts of Escann, bickering over the tiniest things, having nearly forgotten why they came to Escann in the first place. The only solution that sil Canneinn saw to this was to completely reform the way the government was structured, again.
>>2087508And so, Anca pushed on. He renewed investing resources as to advance his reforms however possible, making Corintar one of the most advanced quasi-states in all of Escann. By 1473, the first colony had been completed. It was hailed as a success, and the colonial forces were soon doubled. In 1476, sil Canneinn declared the first and only war of his reign. While it was a success, only 2 provinces were liberated, as the current land administration proved to be very ineffective at joining new land, further accelerating the need for reform.
By 1479, the pioneers had overtaken the marchers in terms of influence. Adventurer unity and devotion were at an all time low, yet Anca was undeterred, and by 1480, he had finally done it. Gone were the days of incompetent adventurer "administration", if it could even be called that. Corintar was to be a proper religious order and Captain Anca sil Canneinn had just become its first Grandmaster. The rift between the marchers and pioneers was mended; at last, the military and religious matters of the nation could be properly focused upon.
But with every great reform comes a myriad of problems. Besides the peasant revolts, the most apparent one was the army size - before the reform, Corintar had a respectable force of ~20K men. Under the new structure, this proved to be too much, inflicting quite the strain on Corintar's economy. However, as no one wanted to get rid of some 3000 well-trained soldiers, nothing was done. The Grandmaster was old and sickly; he had other, more personal matters to worry about. As he famously said: "I did what I could. May those that come after do better."
His last noteworthy orders were to expand a local trade centre and to build a mighty castle in the capital to cement his legacy. On the 1st of Esmarment, Grandmaster Anca sil Canneinn passed away, and in his place came a successor: the 61 year old Aldresia of Vanbury, chosen as such all the way back when sil Canneinn had just become Captain.
>>2087510The new Grandmaster was particularly concerned about the lands that were liberated by Corintar long ago, yet weren't under their jurisdiction. As the population of those settlements aged, they were starting to forget who gave them freedom and, as such, it was of the upmost importance to bring them back to the fold.
Thus, the preparations for war had begun. The first target was chosen to be the Iron Hammers, whose territory separated the Corintari exclave in Castonath from Corintar proper. They were allied with the Order of the Ashen Rose in the south and the Count's League in the east. The Count's League was also in a personal union with Marrhold, but as Corintar had supported their independence for half a century at this point, it was not expected to cause much issue. Thus, after finishing the construction of the fort in the capital and establishing diplomatic relations with Ravenmarch to cover the southern flank, Grandmaster Aldresia declared her first war.
Circumstances proved very favourable to Corintar, as the Ashen Roses were being overrun by orcs and were thus unwilling to intervene in some far away war in the north. The Iron Hammers' army was sent running after a single battle, and soon enough, all of their land was under Corintari control. Though the enemy had made some advances in the east, they too immediately fled once the superior Corintari-Ravenmarch army approached. With their capital occupied, junior partner disloyal, and orcs joining in on the war like vultures, the Count had no choice but to surrender. At last, after 4 years, the war had been won, and all of the Iron Hammers' territory was annexed into the ever-greater Corintari nation.
With the north reclaimed, Aldresia turned southward, where she saw an easy target in the utterly devastated Ashen Roses. Left with no allies, no soldiers, and probably a crippling debt from the orc war as well, the war against them was going perfectly, up until the orc clans of Bladebreaker attacked.
>>2087512As all the Corintari troops were occupied in the south, the Orcs of the north saw themselves an easy opportunity for expansion. Facing no resistance, the orcs marched their superior armies straight to Smallmere. Unable to handle the pressure of the situation, Aldresia died not long after from a heart attack at the age of 68, and soon her appointed successor, an obscure priest she had known named Brandon Derwing, was declared the new Grandmaster.
Derwing soon made peace with what little remained of the opposing Order and brought them to the fold. From the reports, he knew that his weakened army could not come close to defeating the Orcish warbands; instead, he hoped that the recently built fort would prove its worth and defend the capital from the invaders while he led the troops to the lands of the orcs. The plan was to fully occupy the Orcish lands before they take the Corintari capital, to then force them into making peace.
The plan soon proved to be a success, and the orcs were forced to pay war reparations and break any ties they had with the other orcish clans, something that would become useful later on. No land was lost on either side.
Finally, in 1493, Derwing would bring the last of the rightful Corintari land, the province of Wystanway, back to its rightful owners. It used to be occupied by the Order of Ashen Roses, but had declared independence during the Orcish onslaught; their small "army" of 4000 men stood no chance, and in less than a year, the last of the Corintari cores was reunified.
>>2087516Today is Bloomsdawn 7, 1494. Corintar stands in a not-so-ideal position. Two loans, few recruits, war exhaustion, outdated technology and institutions, the devastated and underdeveloped countryside... But no matter what, Derwing pushes on with hopes of a bright future to Corintar. Whether he'll succeed in modernising the nation as Anca had done before him remains to be seen.
>ThoughtsCorintar is, in many ways, not what I expected. For one, there's the whole adventurer gameplay. While I had seen from the map that there's a lot of uncolonised land besides them, I just thought that I'd have to use a colonialist, not this pseudo-native gameplay. Had I known about that, I feel that I would've made some more... thought-out decisions.
Then there's the mission tree. It feels much more oriented to playing tall than to conquering. I assume (read: hope) the conquests will intensify around the Age of Witch-Kings, but still. (Also, why does the MT want me to be buddies-buddies with the orcs? Didn't they, like, commit a genocide of unseen scale in Escann?)
Regardless, guess I'll just have to see for myself. And not to say that that it's not fun; it's just, as I've said before, not the experience I expected.
(sorry again for >reddit spacing, reasons same as before)

You need to have the highest amount of land possible when you settle down so you can crush the other states when they're weak and you don't have to worry about aggressive expansion with the outside world.
If you dilly-dally too much, nations like Gawed, Ibevar, Corvuria and Grombar will end up invading Escann.

It is now 1788 and I'm only like halfway through the Castanor mission tree (which is the end result of New Wanderers > Elikhand)
Was hyped for the new Rezankand tree but about halfway through I got tired of the "Mission tree with obscenely hyper-specific requirements" bs which a lot of the newer MT's the last few updates seem to suffer from.
Hilltop gnolls in comparisson have been a lot more reasonable in that regard. What probably also helps is that I love story archs where conquering monsters now suddenly have to rule all the civilized people they conquered and figure out how a nationstate works.

You got tons of free vassals and free PU with Eborthil and I basically already won after Wex went full retard and got coalitioned to death with me as the leader (they also drag Lorent into it). The cherry on top is the new tier 2 gov reform giving free -10 AE and combined with -25 AE from age abilites and -5 AE from Half-Elf mil is just nuts, no one give a shit I eat Anbenncost.
>>2088977It make me giggle a little but whenever I see gigantic Sir after Haless become visible, it's like Haless greet me with a massive GOOD MORNING SAAR.
>>2088997Because cannorian half elves inherited dark h*man skin tones instead of beautiful and fair moon elven shades.
>>2089020The Half-Elf portrait during country select is a pretty lady and yet the regular Elf one is a dark dude, this goes for all Elves even the Cannorian white ones. They're both pretty ladies for the portrait in the race menu but not in the starting country selection screen thing
>>2088976>>2089010It's not even a pragmatic thing like "hey there's this new religion we can take advantage of to get political power" like the IRL German Protestant princes, it's "dude Corin is so epic she's literally an adventurer!!!" when there's zero ties to Escann in general
>The Command in lore collapses at the end date due to a great insubordination from the other sub-commands after they got buttfucked by a grand coalition formed by all of Haless alongside the onis betraying them at their most critical moment
>Only Dragon Command which is centered in yanshen survives the entire event
It's fucking OVER
My heroes died because they blobbed and accrued too much AE....
>>2088647you don't want to work with cute half-elf women?
>>2088878I'll give you tips (I assume you are trying to play Hul-Az-Krakazol)
>focus mil day 1>go over force limit and get the adventurer privilege for merc buffs>DO NOT engage The Command when they hit mil 4(they will hit it before anyone else), you will get stackwiped>you have to siege down 3 provinces to trigger the event which kills The Command - those are the ones which have the Warcamp modifier>loans are okay>even if you think you have won and they are down to 15k, you have not, because The Command can pull 60k FREE mercs out of their asshole at 1444
>get isekai'd into Anbennar

>>2089504Not had to play in haless before?
Super ebil fascist militarist megachud hobgoblin army-state
But they're atheists so they're also be the dev's epic good boy pet tag around whom all gameplay in their region must centre and they will generally take over all their neighbours and become a five-deathwar blob unless the player starts nearby and fucks them over because muh canon timeline that jaybeaner can't be bothered to write
>>2089504Fascist hobgoblin military government that conquers most of Haless and indoctrinates everyone they conquer into worshipping the State. Except their brown orc slaves, who are too stupid to comprehend their philosophy until they're forcibly turned into half-orcs (what did they mean by this). They also hate magic and enslave every mage they catch. Their tree's 100% blobbing and figuring out ways to administrate their massive blob.
How are the new MTs, bros?

The Hillthrone Gnolls have been pretty fun up untill the point where they make you start conquering into the empire
>Don't get to join the empire
>Mission to dismantle the empire happens after a mission where you first need to have 20 provinces in said empire (why)
>Get permacores on all of the empire of Anbennar and boatloads of temporary admin efficiency and coring cost reduction but no AE reduction so if you go for it you're either truce-juggling or looking at a coalition spanning from Reveria to the eastern coast of Haless.
I can't decide whether it thematically makes sense or not. The Gnolls going "pfffft retard humans killing themselves in a deathwar" and their solution is to start an even bigger deathwar.
>>2090127Gnolls just can't help themselves.

>>2090132I need to get back on the evil Gnoll mindset.
Anons ITT who have played it, how's the new Zokka tree? Pretty good or is it also suffering from hyper-specific requirements?
>>2090127I feel you, early game hill gnolls was incredibly fun and I'm still trying to find something similar. The Kheteratan Gnolls are ok but it wasn't the same.
Think I've replayed the first 50ish years of hill gnolls 3 times by now, whoever created the 2 releasables from Busilar deserves eternal happiness.
>>2090138ยจ
>Anons ITT who have played it, how's the new Zokka tree? It's pretty fine. I liked the ending where Zokka breaks the 4th wall and tells you he's going to eat you and the game shuts down. The mission tree doesn't insist on itself and actually helps you blob instead of slowing you down. The only problem I had was the 75 provinces with primal harimari culture requirement
>>2090127>Destroyed the empire>Ruler's name is KrahA little on the nose don't you think?
>>2090236>The only problem I had was the 75 provinces with primal harimari culture requirementAre there even 75 Harimari provinces in the game?
>>2090272>A little on the nose don't you think?I got the Lux Stella event and the best of 3 picks was Krah.
That and I think the empire wouldn't take kind to a Gnoll taking up the name "Castellos"

but when I wanted to add an easter egg event about an elven bard named Ilvisar Preรกrslรฉibhe, the leads denied it because "referencing a modern music star is outside of the mod's time period"

Well I like minorities.
I like minorities so much that I savescum at the sight of the "fuck you your minorities died there's nothing you can do about it" event.
>>2091440Most democracies exist prior to the start of the game and I doubt they were that common in dark ages. There are literal continents who have liberal democracy as a state religion (alien greek and lakefed). Meanwhile there are very few explicitly monarchist nations and they are all mostly comically evil and genocidal
>>2091968>dark agesBecause "dark ages", a completely misunderstood term by the masses, were between 7-10th century. Not the 15th when the game takes place.
>>2092026You're a moron I know that I was saying it because these democracies exist BEFORE the game even begins so saying that it's okay because eu4 has liberal revolutions is abusrd because they happen in 1700s and not 900s
some will say orcs are underpowered
bad even
>>2092103I would let them live as my eternal rival but they're being retarded in the mountains so they must die
they're even genociding the goblins and repopulating the caves with elves it's disgusting
I'm also kind of pissed that out of all Bahari tags I could pick to be my march I chose Ourdia with their ancient "unite your home region for +1 mercantilism" mission tree
>>2091440No, retard. Democracies only started "rising" after WW1 destroyed the old order, and even then, it as only after ww2 that it replaced all the last monarchies.
>>2092185Modern democracies began with the Bill of Rights and reached its ideological apex with the French Revolution and American independence. Even if you mean republicanism when you say democracy, Cromwell governed England as a republic in the 16th century.
17th century, not 16th.
now that I've corrected myself, you're no longer allowed to make fun of it.
>>2092202The idea that those rare, singular republics were not only as progressive and "equality" obsessed as the ones in Anbennar, or even that they were such a norm that an actual majority of countries will end up as democracies by the end of the game a lot of times, is very much stupid,
>>2092211just say you blame the gommohomo and move on
Why is nobody talking about the fact that the devs keep making time limited vassal-based mission trees? that shit is not fun and at all and most times it's infuriating.
