Really tired of open world.
It existed before BOTW I know, I've been alive much longer than that trend has existed in gaming. But it frustrates me to no end that a lot of game series' I enjoy have entered into that subgenre, even if partially. Not just Pokemon either SMT, Elden Ring .
With Pokémon specifically, I just miss having crafted, designed dungeons influenced by the rpgs of old. You'd think trying to give a realistic scale to the world would aid immersion, but for me it's the opposite. Nothing makes me think "wow I sure am playing a video game right now" like an empty, open field with copypasted assets and random items strewn about, like Paldea is victim to the world's most helpful litterers. Even the caves are just simple hollows with pathways.
Give me back Strength puzzles, ice sliding puzzles, teleport mazes, regular mazes, pitch black caves, multiple pathways in routes, dowsing machines, and DUNGEONS. REAL DUNGEONS. Anything to make me use a few braincells for a moment.
