The reason I replied in a vitriolic manner is because what you described to me is essentially standard behavior for our species. Maintain a tribe, keep it going, don't disrupt it. We're supposed to understand this on an instinctual level. But due to a number of freak accidents AKA scientific breakthroughs we've entered an era that in no way synergizes with our monkey brains. We are assaulted with more information than we can handle and yet we're not given enough information to form a full picture. Our lives are getting padded with faux-civilization luxuries in exchange for us becoming drones engaging in soulless repetetive unfulfilling cog-in-the-machine activities that make us go duller than zoo animals. We're in the hell of our own making and current year midwits are under a foolish impression that they are above their nature and instincts while they have nowhere near enough intelligence for it to be actually true. As such, collectively, humans distrust their instincts, which is essentially generational knowledge that makes crucial decision-making more efficient, but aren't actually able to replace them with something rational and consistent.
Hilariously enough, one could draw parallels to this game, too. A bunch of barely above midwit scientists thinking they're the gods of all universal laws that are unable to so much as entertain the idea that they may just be dumb cats that are slightly more autistic than usual and do not, in fact, know everything there is to be known.
