I lived in South America for quite a few years due to work and while I can't say I had too many experiences with them, jaguars or onças and the myths surrounding them sometimes sound 101 for like the kind of thing Suicune does, like roaming large areas on it's own and acting as a nature spirit that in a few stories acts a purifier of water, obviously Suicune is more so based on a leopard as established, but jaguars are extremely atuned to living near water and they practically rule rivers, even going so far as hunting caimans on their own while swimming. I very much could see some encounters I had with onças in Mato Grosso as something that could translate to an encounter with a Suicune, albeit obviously with Suicune being more majestic.
