Disregarding skill, substituting misguided passion, replacing skill and passion with paint-by-numbers assembly line productions.
It's a combination of the industry cheaping out on itself (mostly due to corporate greed) and an unwillingness to put people in their place. It is an industry and an artform infested with the worst aspects of both.

I hate this retarded genre. It has to be one of the most boring and mindnumbing genres that has ever graced this world. I like only the following despite having wasted considerable time and effort on playing several of them.
1. SotN - only because of its beautiful aesthetics, atmosphere and music.
2. Hollow Knight - the only metroidvania that actually needs you to be good at the controls to beat.
3. La Mulana - loved that the puzzles required more than three braincells to solve
That's about it. Infernax and Simons quest (with romhacks) are tolerable at best. Every other fucking game in this genre is dogshit (including metroid). That is all.
