mainstream appeal = woman gamers and I do agree that EA deserve some blame but not the downfall of Bioware as company, people like Gaider was super active back in NeoGAF days with him constantly writing about stuff he found "problematic" in DA:O and how his team were actively moving away from that in the sequels

in my own experience women don't like DA:O at all from a gameplay PoV and prefer DA:I because its more flashy and less focused on gearing and character building (talents,stats,crafting,team composition etc..) with decent graphics that allows one to make a cute blonde elf that romances Solas
