In preparation for our match in less than 12 hours, I will fill you in on some details about South American football.
Flamengo has been the undisputed biggest team in South America for the past 40+ years, in all ways. Flamengo doesn't only have the most titles, we have the most supporters (or twisters as we call them) in Brazil: 50 million brazilians are Flamengo fans. This is actually the most out of any team in the world if you exclude indians. Since Spain only has 48 million people, Real Madrid and Barcelona can at most have half of the fans Flamengo has.
As I mentioned before, Flamengo also has the most titles out of any team in the world. Despite Palmeiras buying over 10 titles this decade (fax titles as we call them - they donated great sums of money to our confederation, so they were awarded 15 retroactive titles, which are all they have), Flamengo still has the most trophies in the world with over 200 titles. 100 of those are from a regional tournament (more than Botafogo and Fluminense combined, they are from the same state), 50 of those are from the brazilian league, that has been dominated by Flamengo since it started a hundred years ago. Actually, a rule was implemented to stop Flamengo from winning too much, we can't win too many titles in a row so we have to let the other teams win sometimes. Another 50 are from the Brazil Cup, which happens alongside the league and is played by all teams in the country. Flamengo treats it like a charity since we often play against small teams. It's the dream of all players to play against Flamengo, everyone wants to be our rival. The remaining 20 trophies are from international competitions, like the Libertadores, where Flamengo can finally stop playing nice. We rule Libertadores as absolute tyrants. Mexico dropped out of the Libertadores after it was ruled brazilian teams could also win instead of just uruguayans. Speaking of uruguayans, they are also big fans of Flamengo [continues in the next post]
