I think it's because a lot of people in this thread drew the same way I did when I was 12 or so. It's about what you focus on learning; "just draw" is supposed to ingrain into artists the discipline of picking up the pencil. You have to focus on what you're learning in order to actually learn it. Otherwise, it'd be like spending 2,000 hours reading books in a language you don't understand.

I'm not that talented. picrel is something I'm warming up on atm. I spent damn near 8 years drawing nothing but Kirby, a fucking sphere and dodging humans like there was no tomorrow. I know what it's like to be untalented, and I still am.
