In FFXI this spell is learned from the Trolls, which were used in Dawntrail for the Yok Huy who are referred to as 'the giants'. Meaning the Trolls/Yok Huy were always planned to be there. She was able to put all this together just fine. She's not ignorant, she's not confused. She's malicious.
