I need some advice: Over the past couple of months my dogs has repeatedly chewed open his paws. Pic rel shows a more or less healed bite mark from last week in the center and a fresh one on the left where the fur begins (see the newly exposed white skin). Its gotten to the point where I cannot leave him alone anymore because I need to supervise him. Also I cannot go much outside with him because his wounds need to heal and cannot get dirty. I am almost certain he has allergies but I do not know which. We did a blood test a last year which was more or less inconclusive, except that it showed a "minimal allergy towards mites" which are commonly found in food. So we switched and restricted the food and for some time it seemed like this helped but now it seems to me its really some environmental/contact allergy. Do I do a intradermal skin test now? And what can I do in the meantime? Wash the paws daily (ive heard about iodine or saline paw baths)? Wash the fur with some hypo-allergic shampoo weekly? Are there any topical options you might recommend? What about preventative stuff? Thoughts, recommendations, experiences would be very much appreciated.
