Maybe my experience is fucked up and weird, further tainted by being an otherwise fucked up and weird guy, but it seems like IT people have lost sight of the core goal. All this gear is here to make things easier. It never feels like it's gotten easier, because the IT people use it to secure their own positions, create further complication to justify their employment, and generally add undue complexity to the world. It shouldn't be this way. We are here to make things easier. We can't make people smile, but we can make them frown less. Every day we haven't done that is another day the mission has failed.
