Total Dramas artstyle would’ve looked much better if it wasn’t rigged, look at this concept art, the characters bodies are emoting better since they probably didn’t have rigs in mind when making it, at least not rigs as stiff as the final product.

You CAN make rigged thickline animation expressive, look at the pilot of Jimmy Two Shoes for example (I’ve never watched the actual series though, is it as expressive as the pilot?)
