They should have stuck to the initial plan and done all filming back to back.
Dead Reckoning wasn't perfect but it was a solid enough flick. In Final Reckoning, pretty much all the best stuff is clearly from the initial draft of the movie. But you can 100% tell where the extra production time went, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Desperate attempts to link up every previous entry, accompanied usually by unnecessary flashback footage to earlier films. The most notorious example is how they try to hamfist in the Rabbit's Foot from MI3.
The end result is a pretty flawed, hyper exposition-heavy mess with a few admittedly impressive sequences albeit at the expense of the director suddenly getting a bit too "artsy" (where he hasn't been for the last 3 films he directed) that can't quite stand on its own but as a final entry manages to give the crew a good enough send-off. Don't make another one.
tl;dr it's not "bad". There are no "bad" MI movies, but it's also not good enough to justify a random watch on its own. The only reason you would ever watch it is if you're going through all of them, and in that respect it's "good enough"
