"Nice guys" never existed in the first place.

An awkward teenage boy does what he has been told by the media and society to approach a girl he likes, try to talk to them, befriend them, bring them flowers and chocolate, and gets rejected. He then sees them with the more socially well adjusted boys even though they are tribalistic, judgmental and habitually mean to everyone outside their close knit group as teenagers are.

So he makes a simple observation "why do these girls date these guys when they're so awful" and talks about it on the internet. Other people read this, usually the same tribalistic n*rmies with their derision for nerdy awkward boys, and stretch it into "I am entitled to sex because I bought them chocolate". It is malicious, they start with the fact they hate these boys, then nitpick every tiny thing they say and attribute every terrible quality they can to them, the exact same sort of behavior as said tribalistic teenagers when some nerd sits next to them in class or whatever.

The answer of course is obvious, women date who they find attractive and morality has little to do with it, to be fair men do the same, chasing instagram thots instead of taking the fat girl to comicon. But of course society was never going to give these boys the real answers. They will either lambast them and hate them like r*ddit or they will exploit their fears like /r/incels.
