Sage is still pretty new and has yet to appear in a Modern mainline. Funny Eggman Nega's last non-crossover story-driven game had Metal Sonic, and I remember a lot of people were upset at the time that they officialized his regression after Heroes. Wouldn't be surprised if Metal has restrictions similar to Shadow on what licensed material can and cannot do. Either way, Nega's just an inferior Eggman when the plot needs twist-Eggman and he doesn't really serve a purpose anymore unless they have an excuse to use him in a Blaze/Silver game.
