Sometimes I wonder what the 2013 game would look like if the Lara Croft rape scene had gone as planned. They still have the bit where the pirate gropes her and smells her, indicating his intentions - but then there's a QTE, and if you fail it doesn't fade to black as he drags her off to have his way with her, he just reverts back to generic video game enemy and shoots her. It was funny, people made a big stink about it way back when but... It really wasn't that much of anything. I can think of a lot more games with more rape implications. From that QTE to the amount of times she gets captured by pirates and strung up, in very rapey ways, it's clear the devs at some point down the road wanted Lara Croft to get raped in that game, and Square Enix said no, and I just think that's a shame.
