so you could look for old spell effects to turn into tokens.
I like the idea of a Force Spike token: 1, sacrifice: counter target spell unless its controller pays 1.
Because the effect is way worse when it's face up but it's also a miserable old effect that slows the game down and people hate to play against (you'd have to look for effects that are worse when face up for these).
