Most "FF" fan hate it, be more precise. Because actual true J-RPG fans loves it, go ask any SaGa enjoyer what they think about FF8.

I never said they didn't like it (I even said the director of the game is fan of FF8), but then again, it's not a spiritual successor, in fact, it's closer to a Persona/Shadow Hearts more than anything, and even then, it's a reach, the game take too many inspiration everywhere.

Of course, like most dodge/parry souls abuser will fail a lot, still, it's the most optimized/meta way to play the game, so they will play like this instead of using anything else.
