i found hard boiling eggs and marinating them in old pickle brine for a week or two before using them for egg salad is pretty nice, they are also pretty good eaten as-is.
in theory the acidity should help preserve the eggs but i don't trust the method enough to keep them out at room temperature even if i made my own brine, not going to risk botulism just because i like a little extra dill flavor.
