It was in WWII, before bongs had V-T fuses from the USA the safest way to take down a V-1 was to have a spitfire fly up to it and flip it over by its wing so it goes off target and lands in some random field instead of downtown London. Shooting with ground artillery flak was hard since it was small and fast, and shooting it in a fighter required you to be dangerously close to a live bomb going off. Easier just to bully it into crashing.
