Absolutely. I don't buy games just because of an appealing character design, but it will grab my attention and get me to check your game out. There are tons of games that had a cute, sexy girl in the thumbnail and earned their game a spot on my wishlist / in my shopping cart because I liked the look of their game after taking a look.
