A big part of Verso's character is that he's a compulsive liar that hides everything and gets away with it because of good looks and charm (And also because the rest of the party is forced to rely on him). If it were to be written like the average JRPGslop and not be among the best of the genre, Verso would be fully justified in everything he did and the game as a whole would suck its cock rather than present him as a liar, like some version of pic related.
