I did misread your post, you meant the world in general. I don't remember a "pre-internet" world, I was born 1993 and was on the internet since around 2001 when I started gaming and posting on forums.

Up until around 2007 it felt more like a separate entity, internet culture didn't leak into the real world much, you could say the biggest internet meme out loud in a crowded place and likely nobody would get it at all or very few would. Now the world is fully "blended" if you get what I mean

True, I think its more the politicisation of the internet. Nobody gave a shit about politics back then, it was a niche topic at all, maybe at worse you had some 9/11 truthers and stuff, now every "community" on discord and reddit is filled with politics and political rules
