my guess is some interaction between a geometry smoothing shader, and the depth of field blur. Like the shader is maybe making "fake" polygons, and they have to interpolate or dither it into the background?
whatever effect it is, they're spending way too much money on this shit
give me early 2000s polycount and we're good. What are the chances the shelf of medicine behind them has inventory objects to pick up? are they even physics objects? CAN YOU EVEN MOVE or is this just a shitty moviegame cutscene?
