best post itt. the movie is certified kino and a great critique of america in the modern day. it's a shame the point is entirely lost on the immigrants who watch it. ironically enough, the great gatsby hits the same point as scarface. the american dream is dead (potentially never real to begin with) and the only way up for the peasants is crime and deceit (gatsby bootlegging / tony coke) but no matter what you do, you'll never really fit in at the top. in gatsby's case, it's more literal with daisy and the realization that he won't ever be one of the elite. with tony, it's far more allegorical with the attack on his mansion. tony's wealth is literally all he has to show for the years of crime. It's an extension of himself. the mansion ridden with bullet holes at the end is the reality catching up, and tony's american dream dying like the rest before him. another immigrant who dreamt and failed, dying below a statue that says "the world is yours". In death, no different from the small time peddler of his product who gets shot on the street.

now enter some latino retard who ignores all of the bad parts, and thinks he can become tony during the peak money making montage. scarface should've been a warning, but it caused cocaine use to skyrocket when it released. very similar to shows like euphoria. all the girls i knew that were watching it became pillheads or worse
