Pie already consumed. Live service market was effectively decided in 2021. Shit like Hyenas, Concord, Marathon, even the first version of what became Dragon Age Veilguard when it was still an MMO was all decided and greenlit before 2020. The main problem is basically the "we want the COD audience" problem from 2009, it's impossible for shareholders to ignore Call of Duty making a billion dollars in a few weeks selling TMNT skins, or GTAV still selling, and it's impossible to scale down these days.
The real problem for everyone that doesn't have a successful live service title is that the market isn't growing in that way. Kids and teenagers are getting into gaming but they're getting into what their friends play, which is basically Fortnite, Roblox, GTAV, Minecraft, etc. The kind of person that plays and buys a variety of video games a year skews much older, you're basically looking at millennials and Gen X'rs. Gen Z is of working age but they're also putting their money into one or two live service games. Gen Alpha is following that same pattern, the most popular Christmas gift wish from ESA surveys was just Fortnite money.
