When you play mario kart world online, the lobby is given 3 tracks to pick from, as well as a random button. The open world connectors between full blown courses are included in the pool for the tracks, so usually they'd be all there was for the 3 tracks to select from, so people would pick random, which would only pick full courses. The update changed it so that there's a 9.3% chance for random to choose a connecting track when you select random, but also changed the weighting of the 3 tracks your lobby is given the option of so they almost always have at least one full course.

I looked at the "overwhelmingly negatives" reviews and this is literally the first one that popped up in my screen.

Unironically though. People were saying when the thing came out that the liquid metal was a ticking time bomb, but were shouted down by sony shills (aka all of gaming media). Like I'm positive younger thinks it looks fun too. The reception of what I've seen online seems to be pretty positive with them. But younger people still grew up with shit like minecraft and whatever else. Terrain destruction, while appreciated, isn't perceived as novel, extraordinary, or unique.
Then you have the people in their 30s and older. Terrain destruction was the coveted golden dream that was always yearned for but never satisfyingly achieved if attempted at all.

But here comes Bananza, and it really does look like one of the best examples of terrain destruction in videogames to date. Couple that with it being Donkey Kong itself, and you've got a game with impressive movement options and a property with extreme nostalgia power amongst the very same crowd who'd be the most wowed by the terrain destruction.
So all of that combined with how collectathons are kind of sort of a bit rare nowadays. And it should explain it I think.

You get to the Planet Core after King K Rool reveals himself to be the real villain, fight him through a few phases, then he does whatever with the banadium root becoming a massibe threat. DK and Pauline then need to scramble up all the layers to escape enpowered enraged Rool. As you get near the surface a silloutted figured it slowly menacingly walking down a tunnel path hammer in hand. DK cautiously tries to scramble past it and it becomes clear its Mario just beyond seething with rage. Doesn't even glance at DK or Pauline but keeps going towards the approaching Rool. As they meet Rool starts trying to shit talk Mario only to get his face utterly bashed in, leading you to controlling Mario and cratering back through each layer to the Planet Core.
Afterwards he gets back to DK and Pauline giving DK a firm hand shake of thabks plus a banana cake/pie as a reward for being a trust worthy guardian. Would be Ludo.

Obviously you have games like Minecraft or even Deep Rock Galactic which are essentially indie games, but there were older examples of that kinda thing.It is refreshing to see them lean into that aspect though. honestly, as much as people here won't admit it, this is still the problem with gaming on PC. when companies don't port games properly the experience is miserable, but not in a " it's running bad" miserable but a "my game won't boot/it crashes" miserable. the only game that got this close on consoles was vanilla cyberpunk at launch on PS4/xbone

All the ps5 and xbox have shown us is that the only one in any position to make a generation last more than 8 years is Nintendo. 5 years and the two of them have nothing to show for it, and I don't expect their upcoming platforms will do any better
