pretty much what the other anon said, the devs didn't think through and compressed the timeline too much, would make more sense if the steamworks were abandoned at least a decade after the core was built which should have happened a few decades before the main game, but having yellow happen 1 year before UT really fucks everything up

first time I played I thought those plants were kanako's amalgamated body spreading through the underground like a tumor, which is an idea a few people I've seen thought of even if not as direct, its why kanako is so associated with plants in fanworks
really hoped we would go to the true lab and save kanako, would tie up the story better
