Have you not played an RPG or read a fantasy story in your life? That trope of good's strongest being extremely powerful but few in number is in 90% of generic fantasy media that includes themes of good vs evil.

A handful of their greatest are stronger than what you have access to, on a 1:1 basis. Your own elites have the potential to be more numerous and you, personally, are strong enough to slay or charismatic enough to corrupt them.

I said take, not make. They previously costed the same to grab as inferior, weaker units, which was a mistake by MiCha and resulted in most builds not taking them. Roughly 1/3rd of the CYOA was ignored by 90% of anons. It's completely reasonable to have adjusted costs.

They are not jobbers. Against 99.9% of the enemy, they are almost unstoppable. The 0.1% of ultra-elite units that have goddesses directly empowering them are able to defeat your equivalent if you don't have superior numbers and tactics, and are still weaker than you yourself are.
